ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company, and the UAE Football Association (UAE FA) today announced the successful conclusion of the inaugural ADQ Ramadan Football Tournament, emphasizing the ADQ’s commitment to promoting active and healthier lifestyles in the community.

Featuring 32 teams with more than 500 players from ADQ and its portfolio companies, the ADQ Ramadan Football Tournament concluded in a spectacular finale in Abu Dhabi where Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) came in first place, AD Ports Group came in second place, and Abu Dhabi Media Company came in third place. Participants from the tournament also gained a unique experience by playing in a friendly match alongside current and former UAE FA players and members of the official UAE Special Olympics football team.

The tournament’s success was driven by a joint effort to bring together the ADQ community with the support of partners including the UAE FA, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO), and ADQ portfolio companies such as Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), the UAE’s largest healthcare network, and Agthia, the UAE-based food and beverages company. Etihad Airways awarded Etihad Guest Miles to the winning team; runners-up received staycations at Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara while third-place team members were awarded limited edition commemorative silver coins marking the inaugural commercial operations of the first Unit of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.

The ADQ Ramadan Football Tournament is part of the company’s “Performance Driving Us Forward” platform to promote an active and healthier lifestyle through sports sponsorships and community engagement. Building on ADQ’s cooperation with the Zayed Higher Organization within the “Bridges of Hope” program that supports people of determination in Egypt, products were sold by people of determination for the benefit of the Zayed Higher Organization towards various projects inside and outside the country, with the approach of Zayed Day of Action Humanity, which falls on the nineteenth of the month of day of Ramadan.

“The success of our first-ever ADQ Ramadan Football Tournamentrepresents far more than competition as it displayed the true spirit of community and our commitment to creating value that is not limited to financial performance alone.”

Anas Jawdat Albarguthi, Chief Operating Officer at ADQ

“Collaborating with ADQ during Ramadan allowed players to inspire our community to take up sports and enjoy being healthier. The players demonstrated teamwork and sportsmanship on the pitch, representing what football is all about."

His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Hazam Al Dhaheri, Secretary General, UAE Football Association
